2018 Porsche Cayman S

New Car Prep + Swissvax Hand Wax

There is truly no greater reward than being able to do work for a client who is a real automotive enthusiast. It was no different for this client who picked up a brand new 2018 Porsche Cayman S in Racing Yellow. He prefers to spend his weekends hand washing and applying a hand wax on his vehicles, but wanted to make sure he had the proper foundation for paint protection.

The Prep

First, the car was properly decontaminated using a two bucket wash method. Although it had less than 100 miles on it when it came into the studio, it did require a paint correction (which is a common misconception when people purchase new cars). Using the least aggressive methods to preserve the clear coat; scratches, swirl marks and dealer wash-induced marring were removed from the surface. After polishing was completed, it was stripped of all polishing oils. This step is crucial to create a surface the wax will bond to long term. The Cayman also received a wheels off service. The wheels were removed to give easier access to cleaning the inside (barrel). After cleaning the wheels and calipers, both were polished in preparation for the coating application.

The Protection

The wheels and calipers both received two coats of C.Quartz Professional ceramic coating. The coating will protect the wheels and calipers long term with durability against brake dust and other environmental particles as well as provide ease of maintenance during washes. The paint was then treated to Swissvax Zuffenhausen premium hand wax, which is manufactured specifically for Porsche paint systems. It is a special formulation offering a 40% by volume pure North Brazillian Ivory grade one Carnauba wax.

The end result was truly beautiful!
